Music at Covenant Presbyterian Church
Involvement in the music ministry at Covenant Presbyterian gives people of all ages an opportunity to worship God through musical expression, to develop friendships that last, to be educated in music and theology, to grow in grace in our relationship with God, and to serve the Church and the world through the medium of music. Music is one of the essential areas of worship at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Martin Luther said, “Next to the Word of God, music deserves the highest praise. The gift of language combined with the gift of song was given to man that he should proclaim the Word of God through music.” We are open to new singers and musicians wanting to praise God through inspiring music! For more information please contact our Music Director Kim Ritzinger.
The Covenant Choir is a volunteer group of enthusiastic singers who help support the traditional worship experience at CPC. The choir is open to anyone high school age and older, who has a love of God and wants to express that in song, regardless of prior musical background. The Covenant Choir is dedicated to leading the congregation in many different styles of worship through anthems and participation in special events. During the Advent season the choir presents its annual Christmas Cantata. The Cantata is open to anyone who would like to participate even if they are not able to be involved in the choir year round.
The choir’s primary season is from September through mid June. July and August the choir has a modified schedule. Please contact Kim Ritzinger for information about the choir schedule during the summer months.
Rehearsals for the Covenant Choir are held on Wednesday evenings from 6:45pm – 8:00pm. Those interested in joining the choir are welcome to come to any rehearsal throughout the year. We hope you will join us!!
The Covenant Praise Band is made up of both vocalist and instrumentalists. Instrumentation includes but not limited to electric keyboard, drums/percussion, electric guitars, lead guitar, and bass guitars. All instrumentalists are invited to participate. The Praise Band rehearses weekly on Wednesday evenings from 8:00pm – 9:00pm. The style of the music varies, but typically centers around adult contemporary. The purpose of the Praise Band is to lead the congregation by modeling worship as well as to provide a strong foundation for congregational singing. The songs are chosen to lift up the name of Jesus, and proclaim Christ’s great salvation. The Praise Band will sometimes present songs that are not congregational. Singers and instrumentalists are welcome to join us. For more information, please contact Kim Ritzinger.
