Transitional Pastor
Rev. Dr. Steven Ingram
I am delighted to serve as Transitional Pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Springboro. With 40 years of ministry experience in hospitals, counseling centers and churches, I am constantly curious about all the “transitions” of our lives. Every exit is also an entrance. And these moments of change offer invaluable opportunities reflective on what matters most to us. Covenant Church has long been a church committed to reflection and growth, and I feel blessed to join this vibrant community. Together, we explore life’s challenges with a willingness to wonder, wrestle and seek discernment, avoiding easy answers in favor of building a spirituality with deep foundations.
Before joining Covenant in July 2024, I was prayerfully considering how I might serve a local congregation. Since 1991, my work as a Pastoral Counselor has been central to my professional life. Along the way, I’ve earned two seminary degrees, a Master’s degree from the University of Dayton, and additional training at in Social Work at the University of Cincinnati. My experience includes teaching at UD and United Seminary, leading workshops for therapists, consulting with conflicted congregations and contributing to psychotherapy journals. This journey has prepared me to support Covenant in its mission to be a strong, faith-driven church and to accompany the congregation as they reflect on their next chapter of their ministry.
Outside of ministry, I enjoy woodworking, playing the violin, marathon running and cooking. Each of these hobbies provides rich metaphors for life and reminds me of the beauty of living a full and balanced experience. I also cherish time with my wife, Betsy, who is a talented pianist, watercolor artist and retired financial director for Sycamore Township in Cincinnati. She volunteers as a pianist for choirs in the Centerville Schools sharing her gift of music with others.
Together, Betsy and I have a blended family of five adult children. After navigating the usual (minimum of seven years) challenges of blending families, we have reached a meaningful level of connection and engagement with each of our children. The journey has not been without its complexities, but with faith, hope and intentionality, we have discovered immense growth and joy along the way.
If you’ve given me the grace of reading this far, I’d like to warmly invite you to visit Covenant Presbyterian Church—not necessarily to meet me, but to experience the hospitality and faith of the wonderful people I have been blessed to serve. Covenant is truly an alive and welcoming community, and we would love for you to join us on this journey of faith.
